Thomas Robert O'Hara
Thomas "Tom" Robert O'Hara, born Sept. 18, 1953, went to be with his Savior and Father God on Oct. 13, 2019. He was surrounded by loved ones at Athens-Limestone Hospital.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, 2019, at Friendship United Methodist Church on Lucas Ferry Road. Friends and family are welcome from noon to 1 p.m. at the church. Casual attire is encouraged.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Francis O'Hara and Beatrice Ann Smith O'Hara; and brother, Todd Joseph O'Hara.
Survivors include wife Lisa (Freeman) Middlebrooks O'Hara of Athens; daughter, Anna Francis O'Hara of Boston, Massachusetts; son, Brandon Middlebrooks of Athens; niece, Meghan Beatrice O'Hara Lill (Rick) of Pine Beach, New Jersey; and nieces, nephews and many close friends.
Tom lived most of his adolescent years in Garden City, New York, on Long Island with his father, who was vice president of a steel company in New York. Tom's mother retired as a hat model in New York to become a home mother to her two boys.
Tom graduated from Athens College with a B.S. in psychology. He was a medical equipment salesman. He was very honored and proud to serve as an Athens city police officer (known as Officer "O") and being a D.A.R.E. officer.
Tom was an active member at his church, Friendship United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friendship's children's ministry.

Tommy was my cousin. My dad and his mom were brother and sister. I'm very saddened to read about this. Sending prayers to you all.

Prayers for the family. Tom is at peace and with the Lord. I will always remember him at the 11 o’clock service.
