Dick was born on May 10, 1933 to John B. Conway and Loretta Nevins Conway in Prairie du Chien, WI. He was a graduate of Purdue University in Indiana after serving two years in the Army during the Korean Conflict.
Dick accepted a supervisory position with Mallory Capacitor Co., relocating his wife, Janice Scudder Conway and his family to Huntsville in 1963. He later accepted a supervisory position with Jefferson Electric/Magnatek in Athens, AL in 1979, finally retiring from business in 1995.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Grace Olson Conway; his first wife, Janice; his brother, Jack; and his sister, Jane.
Dick died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on January 30. He is survived by his wife, Mary Patten, Conway; seven children, Jerome Conway (Susan) of Johns Creek, GA, Anne McKinley (David) of Huntsville, Loretta 'Lori' Gresham (James Robert) of Little Rock, AR, Patrick Conway (Anne) of Longmont, CO, Timothy Conway (Rebecca) of Huntsville, Teresa Stephens (Robert) of Huntsville, and John Conway (Paige) of Athens, AL; brother, Robert J. Conway (Sue) of Palm Harbor, FL; stepson, Brian D. Bowman (Janis) of Ft. Rucker, AL; 18 loving grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.
Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 4th, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Chaney Thompson Road, Huntsville, followed by a memorial mass at 11:00 a.m. celebrated by Father Mike MacMahon. Burial will follow Saturday afternoon at Roselawn Cemetery in Athens, AL. (www.laughlinservice.com)
