Paula Ann Marbut


Funeral service for Paula Ann Marbut, 83, of Tanner, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, at McConnell Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald Terry officiating.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, at McConnell Funeral Home. Burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery in Athens.
Mrs. Marbut passed away Sunday, June 2, 2019, at her residence after a long illness. She was born July 16, 1935, in Etowah County to Paul Lilburn Jones and Zilla Freeman Jones (later Tucker).
Mrs. Marbut worked for Lawson's Farms for 25 years and as a substitute teacher for Tanner High School. She loved her family and Alabama football.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Gene Marbut Sr.; her father and mother; and son-in-law, Greg Rich.
Survivors include six children, Vanessa Marbut Rich, Cheryl Lynn Marbut (Mike), Russell Gene Marbut Jr. (Sandra), Gregory Paul Marbut (Stephanie), David Hanley Marbut (Melissa) and Allison Lee Barksdale (Kevin); 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Chris Girodo, Jody Girodo, Daniel Fuller, Brian Fuller, Joel Marbut, J. Tribble and Alex Girodo. Honorary pallbearers will be Sheriff Mike Blakely, Allynn Griffin, Chris Blankenship and her great-grandsons.
