Myrtle Ruth Toone Barnett
Mrs. Myrtle Ruth (Toone) Barnett, 82, of Athens, died Friday, July 12, 2019, at Athens-Limestone Hospital.
Mrs. Barnett was born Jan. 1, 1937, in Limestone County and she was a member of Market Street Church of Christ and she was a bus driver for the Limestone County Board of Education. She loved yard sales, fishing, camping, friends, family and she was an avid fan of bluegrass and country music. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Spry Funeral Home Chapel, with David Cox and Guy McDaniel officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, David A. Barnett of Athens; daughters, Vickie (Wade) Williams of Athens and Leshia Johnson Bacon of Athens; son, Derrick A. (Jennie) Barnett of Athens; grandchildren, Charis (Justin) Ritter of Rogersville, Audra Williams of Huntsville, JoHannah Johnson of Athens, Jamison Johnson of Athens and Brianna Barnett of Athens; great-grandchildren, Carly Ritter, Brooklyn Ritter, Lauren Ritter and Cruz Cash; sister, Jean Campbell of Decatur; brother, Jerry McGlocklin of Athens; and sister-in-law, Julie Toone Bain.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Dewey and Bertha Toone; brothers, Thomas Toone, Vernon Toone and J.C. Toone; and sisters, Jewell Toone Blakely and Rosella Toone Pugh.
