Melton Knox Allaway passed away June 18, 2018, at Riverside Senior Center in Decatur, Alabama.
He was born on Jan. 5, 1940, and was 78 years old.
He was a retired Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force, loved his family, fishing, Alabama football and umpiring ball games. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked for NHC Healthcare and First United Methodist Church in Pulaski.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, June 22, at Bennett-May-Giles County Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow visitation at 1 p.m. on Friday in the chapel of Bennett-May-Giles County Funeral Home. Burial will take place in Roselawn Cemetery in Athens, Alabama, with full military honors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Chester and Nellie McKleroy Allaway; brothers, Marel and Melvyn Allaway; sisters, Jean Steppe and Betty Prather.
He is survived by his son, Troy Glen (Vicki) Allaway of Decatur, Alabama; son, Travis Neal (Twana) Allaway of Mount Juliet, Tennessee; brother, Joel Maurice (Melissa) Allaway of Athens, Alabama; granddaughter, Avery Allaway; and several nephews and nieces also survive.
