Lou Ann Layer Lindsay Obituary
Lou Ann Layer Lindsay, 91, peacefully passed away at her daughter's home on February 18, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was born October 4, 1931 in San Diego, CA. She spent her childhood in Pontiac, Michigan where she loved roller skating, swimming in the lakes, and ice skating in the winter. She was a 1949 graduate of Pontiac High School.
After graduation, she attended David Lipscomb College. On her first day she met the love of her life, Ed Lindsay, whom she married just six weeks later. They were blissfully married for 63 years.
She was compassionate and service minded at an early age. She became a nurse and worked both in San Diego and Athens for many years. She was an accomplished pianist, and she could play anything she heard on the radio by ear. She loved all aspects of nature and never took God's creation for granted. She also loved reading, discussing politics and sharing her knowledge of the Bible.
She was a dedicated Christian and proudly served as an elder's wife in Linda Vista, California, Gulf Breeze, Florida and Carriger Church of Christ. She studied the Bible daily and always looked forward to her Tuesday morning Bible study with the ladies that she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Edwin Lindsay; parents, Louise Woods Layer and Hazen Cecil Layer.
She is survived by her children, Karen Harrison (Lee) of Birmingham, George "Kip" Lindsay (Jeanne) of Athens, Elias Lindsay (Margaret) of Athens, Julie Todd (Aubrey) of Athens, 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and many dear friends.
Per her request, there will be a private family service held at a later date.
Rogersville Funeral Home is assisting the family.
