Kenneth Wayne Meacham
Kenneth Wayne Meacham, 79, unexpectedly passed away July 19, 2019, at home.
He was born November 1, 1939, in Richmond, Virginia, and is the son of James Meacham and Olive (Overby) Meacham. Ken was a loving father, husband and friend to everyone he met.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Strange) Meacham; brother, Jimmy Meacham; and sons, Jeff Meacham and wife Cindy, and Chris Meacham and wife Alston.
Ken's education included DeVry University, Chicago, University of Alabama in Huntsville and Athens State University. Ken served with the U.S. Army from 1962 through 1964. His service in the Army brought him to Huntsville, Alabama, where he met the love of his life, Shirley (Strange) Meacham. They shared 55 wonderful years of marriage together.
Following Ken's service in the Army, he retired from Redstone Arsenal after 25 years of civilian service.
Foremost, Ken was a devout Christian. Due to his love for farming, he formed a nonprofit, Farmers for Christ, to help feed those in need. He loved being with his family and friends, Alabama football, fishing and spending time outdoors on his John Deere tractor.
Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Thursday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will immediately follow in the chapel with Dr. Kevin Moore officiating. Burial will be in Huntsville Memory Gardens.
Since Ken was an avid believer in helping those less fortunate, those who wish to remember Ken, may, in lieu of flowers, donate to Huntsville Assistance Program, 1001 Monroe St. SW, Huntsville, AL 35801. (
