Athens, AL - Julia Ann Wigginton, 83, of Athens, AL passed away Wednesday April 1, 2026.

She was born January 15, 1943, to Edd Harrison and Beatrice Clanton Carter.

Julia graduated in 1961 from West Limestone High School. She was a mama to 3 and Nana to all! Her heart and door were always open to anyone. She was an extraordinary Mama and Nana who will be desperately missed.

Julia is preceded in death by her parents, husband Thomas E. Wigginton; one son Christopher Vinson, seven brothers and sisters, Jack Carter, Lonis Carter, J.D. Carter, Bobby Carter, Avis Adcock, Madeline Gardner, and Ella Ruth McElyea.

She is survived by two children Eric (Joyce) Vinson and Jodi (Bryan) Whitt; seven grandchildren Stephanie (Dickie) Sammet, Dillon Vinson, Donna Mae-Ann (Cory) Chappell, Erika (Jared) Greenfield, Sterling (Catherine) Vinson, Ethan (Jessica) Whitt and Joshua Vinson; seven great grandchildren Camden, Willow, and Wrynna Whitt; Carter, Madalynn and Mason Samet; Leon James Vinson; four siblings Dorothy Ezell, Nellie Robison, Sue Sandlin, Larry Carter; four step children Alicia Chunn, Larissa Hall, Cheryl Craig, and Tommy Wigginton.
