Juanita Stovall Campbell

The graveside service for Juanita Stovall Campbell will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at Roselawn Cemetery, Athens, Alabama, with visitation preceding at 11 a.m. at Spry Funeral Home.
Mrs. Campbell died Aug. 14, 2019, in St. Augustine, Florida. She was born Oct. 22, 1922, in Carbon Hill, Alabama, to Ada Robertson Stovall and James Monroe Stovall.
She was a member of Athens First Baptist Church and was active in numerous other community activities. Mrs. Campbell was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Mack Campbell of Birmingham. They were married Sept. 5, 1942, and together they owned and operated Mack Campbell Body Shop on Washington Street in Athens.
Survivors include her daughters, Olivia Campbell and Carolyn Campbell Mengelson; a nephew she considered her son, James H. Thornton; granddaughters, Ann Mengelson-Clark and Elizabeth Mengelson Berry; great-grandsons, Alex Nichols and Ryan Mengelson-Clark; and a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Mrs. Campbell was a lover of life, family, animals, music, college football, and ice cream. She was a voracious reader with a sharp wit and wonderful southern cooking skills, and her kitchen was heaven on earth. She always had a tune or verse at the ready, and her family will dearly miss her energetic optimism and kindness.
