Athens, AL - Joyce Ann Splittgerber Counter, age 91, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026. Joyce was born June 26, 1934, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, to the late Eldor and Esther Splittgerber.

Joyce is survived by husband, Duane, of 68 years; her children, Douglas Counter, Mickey (Cherie) Counter, Sharon (Thomas) Hand, and Julie (Troy) McNeese; her brother, Allan (Pat) Splittgerber; sister-in-law, Diane Gross; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, who will carry her memory with love and admiration.

Memorial service will be on March 22, 2026, at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 112 S. Jefferson Street, Athens, AL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Memorial Fund.
