John Turner Dunn Jr., 85, of Athens, passed away September 28, 2017. His visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Sunday at Roselawn Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial in Roselawn Cemetery. Jason Greene is officiating.

He was strong in his faith and a loving father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Ella Dunn; daughter Tonya Williams; sons John Turner Dunn III (Brandy), Randy Dunn (Deborah), daughter, Shelia Cross (Doug); grandchildren John Thomas Brown, Michael Williams, James Phillips, Breanna Phillips, all from Athens, and Kimberly Winters (Brad), Jeremy Dunn (Stephanie), all of Decatur; three great-grandchildren; friend Carol Shaw; brother Hoytt Dunn (Margret), Lon C. Dunn (Joyce) and Marquett Dunn; and sister Ivine Hill (Arville). He is preceded in death by parents John Turner Dunn Sr. and Gertie May Hayes and two brothers.

He was retired from Decatur City Schools Maintenance. Serving as pallbearers will be Jeremy Dunn, John Thomas Brown, Michael Williams, Chris Shelton, Frank Williams and Blake Goosby. Honorary pallbearer will be James Phillips.
