James Marion Mitchell Obituary

Decatur, Alabama - James Marion Mitchell, of Decatur, Alabama, 90, passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, in Decatur, Alabama.

James was born on Tuesday, June 5, 1934, to the late Mr. James Lewis Mitchell and Mrs. Mary Willie Miller Mitchell in Blanche, Tennessee.

In Mr. Mitchell's free time, he enjoyed playing music on his guitar and mandolin. James also had a passion of buying and selling cars.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Mable Irene Wales Mitchell, both of his parents, one daughter, Tabatha Mitchell as well as three brothers; Elmer Mitchell, Robert Mitchell and Glen Mitchell.

James is survived by one daughter, Jamie (Greg) Cornett of Trinity, Alabama, six grandchildren; Justin (Alyson) Fagan of Trinty, Alabama, Carly (Tyler) Montizaan of Trinity, Alabama, Andrew Fagan of Trinity, Alabama, Caleb Cornett of Cullman, Alabama, Skyler Keeton of Key West, Florida, and Dylan Johnson of Priceville, Alabama, four great grandchildren; Kayson Terry, Bryson Terry ,Brentley Fagan and Emersyn Fagan, one brother, Rayburn (Carolyn) Mitchell of Dry Fork, Virginia.

The family would like to thank Enhabit Hospice Decatur for the love and care provided to Mr. Mitchell.

A visitation will be held at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home in Ardmore, Alabama on Saturday, May 24, 2025, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. A chapel service will follow directly afterwards at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Hasting Cemetery. Bro. Harold Fanning and Pastor Emilio Sanchez will officiate the service.

Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home will be assisting the family with services.
