James Anthony
Mr. James Anthony "Tony" Collins, 68, of Elkmont, Alabama, passed away Friday, November 1, 2019, at his home. Mr. Collins was born January 30, 1951, in Athens, Alabama, to Huston and Lois Spencer Collins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Collins is survived by his wife, Cathy Pressnell Collins; children, LeDon Campbell (Glenna Eldridge) and Holly Campbell Monroe (Michael); grandchildren, Chelsey Hudgins (Cody), Mallory Monroe and Natalie Monroe; great-grandchildren, Cameron Hudgins and Colin Hudgins; sister, Wanda Whittle (Bill); brother, Wade Collins (Patricia); uncle, Wendell Collins; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mr. Collins was an ordained minister. He served as a missionary in Guatemala and in the United States. He was devoted to ministering to terminal and homebound patients. He was the founder of Next Stop Ministry and led a men's Bible study for several years. Mr. Collins was a loyal member of New Bethel Baptist Church. He retired from Limestone County Water & Sewer Authority, where he made lifelong friends.
Services for Mr. Collins will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 5, 2019, at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Mitch McCormick officiating. The family received friends from 5-9 p.m. Monday, November 4, 2019, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be James Lawrence, Johnny King, Grady Berzett, Steve Mitchell, Perry McNatt and Louie Holland. Honorary pallbearers are Ricky Grubbs, Jim Leonard, Duke Amerson, Ray Wales, Gregg Hobbs, Gary Daley, Lloyd Clem, John Yeats, Don Chambers, Wayne Bolden, Charlie Marable, James Odom, Stan Wilson and Joe Riddle.
