Harold Woodward Obituary

Athens, AL - David Harold Woodward, 90, of Limestone County, Alabama, passed away on March 15, 2026, at his residence.

Harold was born on December 15, 1935, in Limestone County, to the late Rufus E. Woodward and Edna Ruth (Corder) Woodward.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Carlos Ann Woodward; daughters, Joy McMinn (Mark), Marilyn Smith (Jeff); grandchildren, Misty Gaddis (Ken), Emerald Simmons (Tristan), Seth Smith (Joanne), Lindsay Gravely, Meagen Waldrep (Brent), Mallory Scott (Jacob); and great-grandchildren, Dominic Smith, Summer Gaddis, Carter Waldrep, Collyns Waldrep and Riley Scott.

Harold was a devout family man, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a friend whose life was rooted in faith, service and deep care for others.

As a dedicated member of the Baptist Church, Harold served as a deacon at Poplar Creek Baptist Church, where he found great joy in serving his community. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, whether that meant providing transportation to the elderly members to doctor's appointments or making grocery trips on their behalf. He also contributed his time and effort to the construction of a new addition at Elk River Baptist Church.

Alongside his wife, Harold volunteered for many years at the Baptist's Children's Home, and he worked with CASA to help build ramps for those in need, ensuring greater accessibility and dignity for others. He had a passion for gardening and took pride in sharing the vegetables he grew with neighbors and friends, especially those who did not have gardens of their own. He also cherished simple moments, like visiting with friends over breakfast at the Washington Street Diner.

Above all, he loved his family deeply. Harold's legacy of kindness, faith, and service lives on through his family and all those whose lives he touched. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and he will be greatly missed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Corder Woodward and Steve Woodward.

Memorial Services were held on March 20, 2026 at Limestone Chapel, with Greg Lauderback officiating. Pallbearers were Mark McMinn, Jeff Smith, Seth Smith, Tristan Simmons, Ken Gaddis, Jacob Scott and Brent Waldrep. Burial was at Roselawn Cemetery.
