Fannie Mae Scales, 84, of Athens, transitioned peacefully Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019, at her home. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Annie Ruth Jamar; son, James Willie Scales; and brother, Charlie B. Smith.
She is survived by five daughters, Johnnie Kate Rogers, Odell Robinson of Athens, Peggy Ann Williamson of Madison, Jenise Watts and Cleophra Scales of Athens; two sons, Arthur Lee Benford of Ardmore and Ivory Joe Scales of Athens; 23 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be noon Thursday, Feb. 28, at the Round Island Creek Mission Center with Pastor Robert L. Rice officiating. Interment will be in Thatch Mann Cemetery. Mrs. Scales will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time.
