Ardmore, Alabama - Carrie Gay McConnell, 78, of Ardmore, Alabama passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at Elk River Health & Nursing Center in Ardmore, Tennessee.

She was born on Tuesday, November 12, 1946, in Athens, Alabama to the late Mr. Sam Wright McConnell and Bessie Beatrice South McConnell.

She was of the Baptist Faith and enjoyed being outside as well as feeding her birds.

She is preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers; Paul, James, Larry, Ray, Glen, Woodrow, and Moe, five sisters; Willa Dean Blankenship, Mary Schumake, Linda Faulk, Glenda McConnell, and Betty McCown, as well as one grandson, John Michael McCown.

She is survived by her two sisters; Robbie Hayes, Faye (Jerry) Eakes, one Grandchild, Joseph Allen McCown, as well as two special friends; Paul Van Manen and Linda King.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 2, 2025, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, from 1:00 PM until 1:30 PM. A Graveside Service will be held on June 2, 2025, at Gatlin Cemetery in Ardmore, AL, beginning at 2:00 PM with Rev. Brad Smith officiating.

Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home will be assisting the family with services.
