Billy Griffin, 92, of Athens died Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at his residence.
Mr. Griffin was born October 1, 1926, in Limestone County, retired from Redstone Arsenal, and was a World War II Navy veteran. Mr. Griffin was a avid beagler and a member of the Cullman Beagle Club.
Mr. Griffin was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed listening to and watching the Atlanta Braves for more than 50 years.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Spry Funeral Home with Cecil Ryland and Mike Green officiating. Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens with military honors. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at Spry Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Brad Griffin, Ryan Griffin, Orion Adams, William Ming, Talbot Elkins and Carl McLemore.
Survivors include sons, Ronnie (Mike) Griffin of Kansas City, Missouri, Tim (Sue) Griffin of Athens and Mark (Terri) Griffin of Athens; grandchildren, Brad (Brandi) Griffin of Athens, Ryan (Erica) Griffin of Athens, Rebecca (Orion) Adams of Rochester, New York, and Breanne (William) Ming of Athens; great-grandchildren, Lexi Griffin, Braxton Griffin, Jasper Griffin and Gunner Griffin; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Griffin was preceded in death by parents, Levi and Ozell Griffin; all 11 of his brothers and sisters; wife, Catherine McLemore Griffin; and granddaughter, Catherine Dianne Griffin.
The family requests donations to be made to Round Island Baptist Church.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Griffin family!! I always thought alot of Uncle Billy. He always had such a kind and gentle spirit. I appreciate his service to our country!!! My mom and dad always loved his and Aunt Catherine's fish fry's. We will continue our prayers for you all 🙏🙏🙏
