"David" Walter D. Crabtree, 72, of Ferndale, Michigan, passed away April 5, 2017. David was born in Athens in 1944. He is survived by his beloved wife, Denise, of 43 years.
Loving father of Paula Crabtree of Ferndale, Michigan; David Crabtree of East Lansing, Michigan; Kenny (Jayme) Crabtree of Ypsilanti, Michigan; Robert Crabtree of Ferndale, Michigan; Annette Zilo-Tundo of Clinton Township, Michigan.
Loving brother of Bobby (Cathy) Crabtree of Widowee, Alabama; Jerry (Michaela) Crabtree of Athens, Alabama; Linda Jones of Athens, Alabama; Doris Moore of Las Vegas, Nevada; Lou Tucker of Decatur, Alabama. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. David was predeceased by his parents, Walter R. Crabtree and Ruby Tucker; his brother, Donald Vinson; and his sisters, Wanda Swanner and Donna Fielder.
David served in the United States Army in the Vietnam War. He held a rank of Private First Class and was assigned to the U.S. Army 1st Infantry Division 1. David was a retired restaurant chef, caterer and small business owner. He was a life time member of the VFW post 6756 in Center Line, Michigan, where he served as Hall Manager and Chaplain and also formerly served as the Post Commander.
Visitation is Tuesday from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. with service Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Dryer Funeral Home, 101 First St., Holly Michigan. Burial service will begin at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at The Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
