Ruth Adams Blakely, 88, of Athens, died Sunday, June 18, 2017, at Athens-Limestone Hospital.
Mrs. Blakely was born Jan. 16, 1929, in Limestone County. She retired from Athens Lingerie and also worked with Athens Boys & Girls Club. She was a member of Pleasant Valley Church of Christ.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Spry Funeral Home, with Bert Wilson and Brendon Walker officiating. Burial will be in Sandlin Cemetery.
Visitation is 6-9 p.m. Monday at Spry Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Brian Blakely, Brian English, Chris Bowers, Blake Persell, Matthew Persell and Samuel English.
Mrs. Blakely is survived by a daughter, Shelia Blakely (Terry) Persell of Athens; a son, Mark (Anita) Blakely of Athens; grandchildren, Atina (Brian) English, Brian (Sarah) Blakely, Blake (Emily) Persell, Christie (Chris) Bowers and Matthew Persell; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Joyce Raley of Athens; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Blakely was preceded in death by her parents, Larkin and Trudie Adams; her husband, Ottis Blakely; and sister, Erma Blakely.
