Roger Lee Gunn Sr.


Roger Lee Gunn Sr., 80, went to be with the Lord on March 8, 2019. He was born on December 21, 1938, in New York, New York.
A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at Moss Service Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will be on Wednesday, March 13, at St. John's Evangelical Protestant Church, Cullman, Alabama. He will lie in repose from 1-2 p.m. The Rev. Bob Kurtz and the Rev. John Richter will officiate. Burial will follow in Nectar Cemetery, Nectar, Alabama.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Pearl Gunn; son-in-law, Fred Chouinard; father-in-law, Phillip Hill; and brother-in-law, Wayne Hill.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Hill Gunn; children, Dr. Jackie Gunn, Miami, Florida, Roger Lee Gunn, Jr., Thorsby, Alabama, and Adam Lee Gunn, Cullman, Alabama;
grandchildren, Cameron Gunn (Jessica), Taylor Gunn, Madison Gunn (fiance
Trent Smitherman); great-grandchild, Kambree Dean Smitherman; mother-in-law,
Lorene Hill; sister-in-law, LaDonna Hill; nephew, Brad Hill (Stephanie); great-nephew, Trevor Montoya; and other family and friends.
Mr. Gunn was a graduate of Jemison High School, Jemison, Alabama, and the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Alabama. He was director of radiology at several hospitals. He was the third person in the United States to be registered in Nuclear Medicine Technology. He was a member of The Nuclear Medicine Technology Board and The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. He belonged to the Cullman Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star and Birmingham Football Officials Associations. He was
on the board of directors and vice President of Terri Pines C.C.
In 1974, he was voted Man of the Year. The award was given for a genuine desire to help others.
Mr. Gunn enjoyed playing golf, boating for many years and cheering for the Alabama Crimson Tide.

I remember Roger from when we worked together at Athens Hospital in Radiology. I am very sorry to hear of his passing. May you find peace in knowing that to be absent from this body is to be present with the Lord. With deepest Sympathy...
