Rebecca P. Schrimsher

Rebecca P. Schrimsher, age 100 1/2, passed away July 10, 2017, at Limestone Health Facility.
Mrs. Schrimsher was born Dec. 1, 1916, in Limestone County, Alabama (East Limestone community). She was the fifth of 14 children born to Theo Pepper and Ruth Ella Barksdale.
Mrs. Schrimsher attended Athens Agricultural School. She married Robert Dervern Schrimsher on Oct. 8, 1933. They raised three daughters together. Mrs. Schrimsher was a seamstress at Athens Lingerie for 28 years. After retirement, she maintained a sewing career from her home for clients.
Mrs. Schrimsher enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading and spending time with her family. She was a loyal member of Central Church of Christ.
Mrs. Schrimsher was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Carolyn S. King; two sons-in-law, Sidney Johnston and James D. King; and one granddaughter-in-law, Angie S. Johnson.
Mrs. Schrimsher is survived by two daughters, Mildred Ruth Johnston and Bonnie Sue Snoddy (David); and one sister, Dorothy Pepper. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Nancy Johnston ( J.P. Ebe), Susan Ackerman (Steven), Nick Johnston (Wendy), Jennifer Romine (Darrin), Monica Hammond (Matt) and Brian Snoddy (Christina); sixteen great-grandchildren, Hannah and Rebecca Ackerman, Patrick, Olivia and Allswell Hammond, Hayle, Seth and Elijah Johnston, Ana and J.J. Brito, Trey and Andy Cantrell, Ashley (Bill) Johnston, Jacob Romine, John David and Katy Snoddy; and two great-great-grandchildren, Lilly and William Johnston.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Schrimsher's family and friends will gather to remember her life Thursday, July 13, at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home, with visitation from 9-9:45 a.m. followed by a graveside service at 10 a.m. at Roselawn Cemetery.
