Marvin Patrick McGuire, son of Patrick and Dora McGuire, was born in Bisbee, Arizona, on July 14, 1926. He died at the Ardmore, Tennessee, Health and Rehabilitation Center on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017.
He was a veteran of World War II, worked for a while with the U.S. Postal Service, and later received training in navigational electronics on the GI Bill. He spent over 30 years as an electronics technician working with Lockheed in Burbank, California, and Palmdale, California.
After a few years of retirement in California, he move to Lester, Alabama, in 2002. While living in Limestone County, he enjoyed participating in activities at the county senior centers, performing as a dancer with the Golden Age Band, traveling and enjoyed eating at Ruby Tuesday. He was a member of Walnut Grove Community Church in Leggtown.
He is survived by his close friends, Pat, Lori, Jonna and Mandy Smith of Lester. Graveside services are 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, at Legg Cemetery with Don Smith officiating and Spry Funeral Home directing.
