Joel Andrew Beasley, age 79 of Athens died Tuesday, January 16th at Huntsville Hospital. Funeral service will be Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Friendship United Methodist Church with Ray Blankenship, Tony Johnson and Steve Dorning officiating. Visitation will be from 12 - 1:45 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at New Salem Cemetery.
Mr. Beasley was born November 22, 1938 in Limestone County to John C. Beasley and Robbie Corder Beasley. He was a graduate of West Limestone High School and Athens State College. He served in the U.S. Army as a Sharpshooter. He worked as a computer programmer/systems analyst and he retired from the City of Athens Utilities in 2003.
He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, John Clayton Beasley, Jr., Robert Corder Beasley, Thomas Wilburn Beasley and infant Audie C. Beasley, four sisters, Clara Mae Beasley McConnell, Sarah Lucille Beasley McConnell, Martha Neil Beasley McConnell and Mary Nell Beasley Sigler.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Rosene Ramsey Beasley, one daughter, Jane Beasley Bochnak; three brothers, Aubrey Christopher Beasley and wife Paula, Herman Whaley Beasley and wife Ruth; Doyle Eugene Beasley; four grandchildren, Anna Catherine Bochnak, Meredith Jane Bochnak, Julia Kate Bochnak and William Daniel Bochnak, and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be David Usery, Phil Dotson, Rod Huffman, Gary Scroggins, Bill Graham, Tom Piziali and Dan Jackson.
Honorary pallbearers will be the 1956 West Limestone High School State Champion basketball team and Fellowship Class at Friendship United Methodist Church.
Memorial gifts may be made to American Heart Association or St. Jude Childrens Hospital.
