Howard Wayne Haggard, 67, of Athens, died Sunday, January 27, 2019, at his residence.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Spry Funeral Home Chapel with Doug Colwell, Dwight Raburn, Shane Reyer and Frankie Murphy officiating. Burial in New Oakland Cemetery. Visitation is from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at Spry Funeral Home.
Mr. Haggard was born February 26, 1951, in Manchester, Tennessee. He was a member of New Oakland Independent Baptist Church and was co-owner of Eagles Diner. Mr. Haggard was a U.S. Army veteran, a member of the DAV and a member of the VFW.
Pallbearers will be Tim Reyer, Kevin Watkins, Brandon Ivey, Ernest Moss, Randall Haggard and Wesley Beard. Honorary pallbearers are Michael Cox, Freddie Defoe, Danny Bermea, Michael Ivey, Daniel Smith and B. J. Jarrett.
Survivors include wife, Wanda Haggard of Athens; sons, Deryl Haggard (Lori Drummond) of Athens and Gerald Haggard of Athens; daughters, Cindy Flores (Jason McMunn) of Athens and Regina Balderrama (Miguel) of Athens; special daughters, Liane Johnson of Athens and Linda Haggermaker of Athens; brothers, James Haggard of Athens, J. L. Haggard (Kathleen) of Elkmont, Bobby Haggard (Joyce) of Arkansas, Roger Dale Haggard (Nancy) of Athens, Kenneth Haggard (Brenda) of Tullahoma, Tennessee, J. T. Haggard (Connie) of Athens, Mark Haggard of Athens and Glenn Haggard (Arby) of Athens; sisters, Evelyn Defoe (Fred) of Elkmont and Betty Hargrove (Donald) of Elkmont; grandchildren, Jeremy Pope, Blake Haggard, Austin Lopez (Katy Weld) and Lexi Drummond; one great-grandson, Kaysin Wayne Lopez; longtime friend, Bo Green; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by parents, Dorcie and Mary Francis Haggard; mother- and father-in-law, Bob and Gracie Pullum; grandson, Wesley Lopez; brother, Terry Haggard; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Luke and Nadine Reyer.
