Horace Preston Johnson, 90, of Athens died Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at Limestone Health Facility.
There will be a 1 p.m. graveside service Saturday at Athens City Cemetery with Joel Carwile officiating. Visitation is 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Spry Funeral Home.
Mr. Johnson was born December 18, 1926, in White County, Tennessee. He grew up in the Lincoln Mill Village of Huntsville. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Athens, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict, and he retired from TVA.
Survivors: daughters: Sharon Rush of Athens, Lisa Kelley and husband Danny of Athens; grandchildren: Traci Boutwell and husband David of Athens, and Bill Kelley of Athens; great-granddaughter: Sophia Wren Boutwell; sisters: Doris Foster of Huntsville, and LaBarbra Turner of Huntsville; nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by parents: Haskell and Pauline Johnson; wife: Bobbie Pete Johnson; son-in-law: Mike Rush; brothers: H.M. Johnson, Donald Johnson and Jerry Johnson; sister: Evelyn Johnson.
