The funeral service for Floyd McMeans, age 97 of Athens, will be Friday, April 14, 2017 at 3 p.m. at McConnell Memorial Chapel with Bruce Craig officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 1 - 2:45 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home. Burial will be in Reunion Cemetery.
Mr. McMeans passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at his residence. He was born October 13, 1919 in Hardin County, TN to Jack Decker McMeans and Deci Junior McMeans. He was a member of Reunion Church of Christ and a WWII veteran. He was a hard worker and a great father, who will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Leona McMeans, one daughter, Martha Legg, four brothers, one sister and two grandchildren.
Survivors include: one son, Edward Glenn McMeans of Athens, AL; three daughters, Judy Bunker of Madison, AL; Debra Thornton of Athens, AL; Rhonda McMeans of LasVegas, NV; one brother, Donald McMeans of Athens, AL; one sister, Geraldine Markum of Newman, GA; eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Michael McMeans, Dale Bailey, Parker Vardaman, Wesley Vardaman, Curtis Freeman and Teddy Dutton.
