Mrs. Ella Ruth McElyea, 91, of Athens, died Friday at her residence. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, November 6, 2017, at Spry Funeral Home Chapel with Casey Harbin officiating. Burial at Limestone Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from noon until 2 p.m. Monday at Spry Funeral Home.
Mrs. McElyea was born June 30, 1926, in Limestone County. She was a member of Sunnyhill Church of Christ, and she was a homemaker.
Survivors include daughter Janice Moss (Oneal) of Athens; son Dale McElyea (Sherry) of Athens; brothers Bobby Carter (Eve) of Pulaski, Tennessee, and Larry Carter (Faye) of Athens; sisters Nellie Robison of Athens, Dorothy Ezell of Athens, Ann Wiggington of Athens and Sue Sandlin (Jimmy) of Tanner; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by husband Rupert McElyea, son Wyatt McElyea and six brothers and sisters.
