Betty's Story

Betty Evelyn Strong of Madison, Alabama, 82, passed away peacefully on January 25th, 2018 with family and friends by her side. Betty was born on October 1, 1935 in Blakely, Georgia. She was a lifelong homemaker who enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, dancing, watching game shows and making her beloved banana pudding. On July 3, 1954, in Orange Park, Florida, Betty married the love of her life, Donald Eugene Strong of Kingsport, Tennessee.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband Donald Eugene Strong; two sons, Daniel Ray Tindol and William Charles Strong; mother, Elba Oneida Clark; father Antly Hicks; brothers, James Hicks and Billy Earl Chapman along with sister Lynell Hicks.
She leaves behind 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and numerous other loving relatives and friends.
Betty is survived by son Emmett Ronald Tindol (Mary Sue) of Lubbock, Texas, Cathy Marie Nix (Kelly) of Canton, Georgia, Debra Kay Fishburne (Joe) of Waverly Hall, Georgia, Stevie Eugene Strong (Joyce) of Kingsport, Tennessee, Mary Ruth Hayes (Paul) of Dalton, Georgia, Lisa Fauvette Farrar (Ricky) of Madison, Alabama, Theresa Elaine Darnold (Roy) of Trenton, Florida, sister Elaine Freidlander of Virginia and brothers in law Wayne Strong (Tonda) and Ellis Smith of Kingsport, Tennessee.
Betty focused much of her life raising her children. Betty certainly never knew a stranger and all who knew her loved her enduring spirit.
Services for Mrs. Strong will be at 2:00PM Sunday, January 28th, 2018 at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:45PM prior to the service. Interment will take place immediately after the service at Thatch-Mann Cemetery in Athens.
The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her last months.
