Betty Jean King, 85, of Athens, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2017, at home. Mrs. King was born November 1, 1931, in Limestone County to Lawrence Victor Ferguson and Mary Lindsay Ferguson. Mrs. King was a life-long resident of Limestone County, farming side-by-side with her husband, H. L. King. But more importantly, she was a Christian and attended the congregations of Tanner, Market Street and Westview churches of Christ during her lifetime with many beloved brothers and sisters.
Visitation for Mrs. King will be Sunday, February 12, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. The funeral will follow in the chapel immediately after visitation at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. King was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence (L.V.) and Mary Ferguson, her husband of 64 years, H.L. King, her brother, Charles Ferguson, and her sister, Mary Elizabeth (Skip) Black.
Survivors include one daughter, Eva Robison and husband Frank; one son, Sam King and wife Nancy; four grandchildren, Adam Robison (Jennifer Townsend), Seth King (Heidi), Lindsay King and Will King (Ali); three great-grandchildren, Gibson King, Harper King and Finley King; 4 brothers, Harold Ferguson, Billy Wayne Ferguson, Donald Ferguson and Dan Ferguson, two sisters, Shirley Ball and Peggy Williamson; numerous nephews and nieces; and dear caregiver, Shirley Clark.
Pallbearers will be Sam King, Frank Robison, Adam Robison, Seth King, Will King and Matt Haney.
