Bessie Marjorie (Jenkins) Batts, 92 of Athens, died Friday at Limestone Health Facility. Services will be 3PM Sunday at Spry Funeral Home Chapel with Bill Graham and Jerry Batts officiating, burial in Poplar Creek Cemetery, visitation is from 12noon until 3PM Sunday at Spry Funeral Home.
Mrs. Batts was born April 27, 1924 in Limestone County, she was a member of Poplar Creek Baptist Church and she was a homemaker.
Survivors: Daughter: Videra Sims of Athens. Son: Wade Batts and wife Betty of Athens. Grandchildren: Scott Sims and wife Sandy of Pelham, Chris Sims and wife Renae of Athens, Lori Lambert and husband Allan of Alabaster, Denise Pettey and husband Michael of Athens, Leigh Ann Cochran and husband Blake of Athens. Eleven Great-Grandchildren. Sisters: Mabel Wilbanks of Athens, Twila Sandlin of Athens and Lella Hamilton of Rogersville. Nieces and Nephews.
Preceded in death by Parents: Milton and Clarice Jenkins, Husband: Ed Batts, Sister: Lucille Gordon, Brother: James Jenkins, Son-in-Law: Roy Sims, Daughter-in-Law: Susan Batts.
Pallbearers will be Scott Sims, Chris Sims, Allan Lambert, Blake Cochran, Michael Pettey, Dimitri Sims, Carter Pettey and Cooper Cochran.
