Bernice Adell Martin, 101, of Athens died Friday, Dec. 1, 2017, at her residence. Mrs. Martin was born Jan. 12, 1916, in Limestone County. She was a homemaker and the oldest living member of Round Island Baptist Church.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, at Round Island Baptist Church with Mike Green and Dusty McLemore officiating. Burial in Copeland Cemetery. Visitation is 11 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Monday at Round Island Baptist Church.
Survivors include daughters, Frances Pressnell of Athens and Linda (John Aaron) Williams of Elkmont; son, Granville "Pig Iron" (Ginger) Martin of Athens; brother, David Clifton (Jeanette) Yarbrough of Athens; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvie and Beulah Yarbrough; husband, William Marvin (Jack) Martin; daughter, Elizabeth Faye Martin; sons, William Morris (Moose) Martin and Larry Martin; son-in-law, Kenneth Pressnell; grandson, William Martin (Marty) Pressnell; sisters, Mable Kennedy Yarbrough, Dora Newby, Estell Clem and Odell Clark; and brothers, Harry Kennedy, Henry Kennedy, Hassie (Buddy) Yarbrough, Lawrence Yarbrough, Eugene Yarbrough, DuPree Yarbrough, and Jessie Yarbrough.
Pallbearers will be Troy Martin, Tim Martin, Grant Martin, Clint Martin, Barry Pressnell and John Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be the great-grandchildren.
The family ask that donations be made to Hospice of Limestone County.
