Ann Boone Hendricks's Story
WILEY, Ann Boone Hendricks (Boonie) Age 84 of Nashville, Tennessee. Born in Athens, Alabama on June 5, 1933, and passed away on Sept 2, 2017. Preceded in death by parents, Price Wayne and Pauline Nance Hendricks, and sister Nancy Wayne Hendricks, all of Athens, Alabama. Survived by children, David Warren Wiley III (Brigitte), Price Hendricks Wiley (Joanna), and Ann Wiley Tavakoli (Anthony). Grandmother to six granddaughters and one grandsonHaden Wiley Cook (Brian), Catherine Wiley Lane (Will), Cynthia Kirby Wiley, John Wiley Hunt, Emma Cashin Lovell (Philip), Helen Nance Wiley, and Grace Reed Wiley. Great-grandmother to three great-grandsons, Charles Fisher Cook, David Wiley Cook, and Jesse William Lovell. Boonie was loved by and blessed with many family members including 100 first and second cousins.
Boonie was a graduate of Athens (Alabama) High School, Stephens College (Columbia, MO), and Vanderbilt University where she majored in mathematics and was a member of the inaugural class of the Vanderbilt Delta Delta Delta sorority. In her youth, Boonie enjoyed her time as a majorette and was crowned the 1952 Miss Limestone County Maid of Cotton. Boonie was a golfer and avid bridge playershe enjoyed each of these pastimes in the company of many wonderful friends. Boonie was giving of her time and active in the community. She was a member of Belle Meade Country Club, the Junior League of Nashville (Sustainer), APTA, Gen. James Robertson Chapter D.A.R., Cheekwood, Delta Delta Delta Alumni, Friends of Childrens Hospital, Friends of Warner Park, Nashville Tree, and First Presbyterian Church. Boonie was very involved with First Presbyterian Church where she served on the Communion Committee, and as Co-chairman of the Flower Committee. Additionally, she was in the first class of Stephen Ministers at First Presbyterian Church.
Visitation will be held at the Cheek House of First Presbyterian Church, on Wednesday, September 6th at 12:30 PM, with the funeral following at 2:00 PM. Internment will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church Landscaping Fund or Cumberland Heights Foundation, P.O. Box 90727, Nashville TN 37209.
